I want to explain why I do a monthly net worth update.
- Keep me accountable
- Track my journey
- Prove that anyone can become a millionaire
- Prove that FIRE works
Another month and I’m still inching my way closer to FIRE! Stay consistent and keep investing like it’s going out of style.
This month I made $5,807.
Expenses total right at $3,586.
This month was another crazy month. I saved $1,400, nothing fancy, and one of my lowest saving rates. That is right around a 19% savings rate. One of my lowest this year!!!
- $1,811 TSP
- $1,400 Cash Savings (stable coin)
Checkout CC hacking it saves me a ton of money!
Side Hustle Income: $10
This month I had $10 side hustle money. I also am now earning interest in my BlockFI crypto account. Not sure if I count that as a side hustle though. I made $10 helping my neighbor who is an older lady that is a Van Lifer. She needed some help with a storage system I was doing it for free but she forced me to take the $10.
Net Worth: $447,076
That is a -$21,616 gain since last month’s net worth update for August was $468,692.
This is where it gets a little sticky now. My net worth posted on Personal Capital in the sleek graph below is wrong. Still, have some of that crypto that would not link to Personal Capital.
I love using Personal Capital to track my Wealth.
This month my net worth went down by over $21,000!!! Should I sell? Should I put it all into cash? These are questions I see and get asked when the stock market starts to go down. What I do might not be what is right for you.
I do nothing at all but sit back and treat it like it’s just another day. If you are freaking out on every drop in the market it’s a big red flag that you are invested too aggressively and it’s time to change your asset allocation.
Tried and true this method has worked for me and the data backs this up. Doing nothing is typically a winning strategy in the investing world. Yet doing nothing is hard for most people. Because they let emotions guide them so quickly that they let fear control the moves.
For the purpose of this blog, I only show my portfolio and don’t show our combined portfolio. I’ll leave it at we are doing very well and way above average. Which makes going to work that much harder every day! But my plan is to pull the RE card in the summer of 2024.
For those of you that have been following my Net Worth Updates can probably skip the rest of this post.
Barista and Coast FIRE group.
I have created a FIRE group for Barista and Coast FIRE people. I saw there was a gap in the community and these paths seem like the more enjoyable path. So I said, “why the hell not take on this as a passion project?”
One of my desires this year is to really get and build more community! Here is the Barista and Coast FIRE group HERE.
