RV Lifestyle Thoughts
October was an expensive month in my RV journey. My AC went out on the RV and I decided instead of trying to fix it or calling someone I would just buy a new AC. Honestly, a big reason I did this was because I am wealthy enough to do this. My passive income is three times my typical expenses. I also decided to upgrade to a bigger AC that is more quiet. The AC was very easy to install and it was plug and play. The hard part was getting it onto the roof and the old unit off the roof. So far I think it’s a lot quieter but I am not sure If I think it cools any better. The old AC was a 13.5K BTU and this one is a 15K BTU, so it should cool the RV more efficiently. This new AC was $1,160 but one of the clips that hold on the plastic case was broken and got Amazon to refund me $175 because of this. I just super glued the clip back on.
I also bought a new water pump. My old one had a bad check valve that if I left the city water on it would allow the water to eventually leak out of the water tank on the RV. To stop It I would just turn off the city water after a few hours but honestly, it was becoming annoying. Again I realized I am wealthy enough to replace this. It was an easy install and almost plug-and-play. I had to splice some wires on it but nothing too hard. Now it works perfectly no more having to turn off the city water outside. The water pump was $77.
Oh yeah, I also had a mouse problem with two mice that got into my RV! I had to buy traps and decided on humane ones because I love animals. I caught both of them in less than an hour and the next day I relocated them.
The next big project I will tackle is cleaning and resealing the roof. I will take my time on it and do a little at a time. I have found projects like these it’s better to go slow and not rush. I’m also going to start replacing some of the furniture like my futon. Trying to upgrade to things that are more comfortable and make the space feel better.
Even though this was the first month in a long time that RV life was more costly than renting an apartment I still am enjoying the life. I keep thinking of upgrading to a bigger RV especially now that I have Nora (Great Dane puppy). But I also like the current setup I have especially once I am done with a few more upgrades.
It’s just another month in the RV adventure life.
In case you missed it here is last month’s breakdown. Keep on the journey and path!
