    RV Lifestyle Thoughts

Still enjoying the lifestyle and have no plans to quit anytime soon. I actually might become even more nomadic with the RV life! Only time will tell if this happens or not.

    Update!!!

I finally found the leak in my RV roof. Only took me months to find it! Living in San Diego it rarely ever rains and when it did the leak was not big so trying to find the source of it was frustrating. I found what I thought to be eternal bond tape from the factory on the roof of the slideout.

Well looks like it was not from the factory nor was it the real eternal bond. It was a much thinner style of tape. Once I ripped it up I could see rusted screws and a green small puddle of water.

This made me also decide to pull back the TPO roof to see how the wood underneath looked. Well surprise, surprise it was rotted and soaking wet! This actually is not as bad as it could have been. For me not finding it for months or even longer probably is the best scenario I could have asked for.

I will be replacing the wood and screws. I also will be using butyl tape under the metal molding trim. That is the tape you want to use to give trim pieces extra seal tight waterproofing. After I screw it down I will add dicor sealant to the edges and seams as a final touch.

I might replace the white TPO roof as well. Some people tell me to replace it but it seems a little overboard to replace the whole thing just because of this one corner. I’m thinking to reuse it to save money. A TPO kit to do the slide-out is around $300.

Just another month in the RV adventure life.

In case you missed it here is last month’s breakdown. Keep on the journey and path!
