I want to explain why I do a monthly net worth update.
- Keep me accountable
- Track my journey
- Prove that anyone can become a millionaire
- Prove that FIRE works

I hit FIRE in 2023 at age 38! Stay consistent and keep investing like it’s going out of style.
Income
This month I made $6,750. This is a mixture of passive income from my military retirement/compensation and a little side hustle money.

Expenses
Expenses total $4,307. This month I spent a lot of money, I bought a new AC, and water pump, ate out a ton, and spent money on wet shaving gear. I’ll get more into it in the final thoughts section.

Savings
Now that I am retired the focus is not on a high savings rate. But seeing my passive income is 2x what I usually spend I foresee myself still saving and investing some money. This month I saved $2,355.
- $2,355 Money Market Account
Check out CC hacking it saves me a ton of money!
Side Hustle
Side Hustle Income: $275
Net Worth: $795,347
My net worth does not account for my passive income. I only account for my liquid investments, cash, and my paid-off RV. However, I put my RV for far less than NADA says it’s worth and less than similar models on the used market. I eventually might take it off completely but as of today it accounts for $10.5K of my total net worth. I have been lowering the RV value by $500 every month and I plan to keep doing this until it’s at a rather low amount or off completely.

That is a +$16,183 gain since my last net worth update for September 2024 was $779,164.
I love using Empower to track my Wealth.
Final Thoughts
Another $16K+ month all while being retired and not focused on building wealth. I feel like October flew right on by. This month I did something special that will increase my monthly spending but felt like the universe was guiding me to do it. I adopted a puppy!! Her name is Nora and she just turned one on October 18th. She is a Great Dane and if you can’t tell she loves the beach and water.

Let’s talk about those expenses shall we, well as you can see they are higher than typical yet still rock bottom low IMHO. My AC broke and instead of trying to troubleshoot it or hire someone to do that I decided I was wealthy enough to just replace it with a new one. I decided to go with a bigger unit so it’s more efficient and it’s not as loud which is nice. I need to keep reminding myself that It’s ok to spend more to bring more value into my life. This had me also decide to replace my water pump as there has been an issue with it for years. It still works but when hooked up to city water for too long a valve does not stop the water and it will leak out. More so an inconvenience to have to turn the water off outside. But again I am wealthy enough to not have to deal with that. I also purchased a $400 shaving brush which sounds crazy to most people but I enjoy wet shaving and the luxury feel the higher-end brushes and razors I own bring to my daily shaving. It hits home the idea of “Spending more to bring more value into your life”. But I must admit I need to downsize how many brushes, razors, and shaving soap sets I have. Living in an RV it’s wild how much I have and just in general I think I would like to downsize my collection even if I moved into a house.
I’m still finding life to be very cheap if you keep your housing costs low, don’t have debt, and spend based on values. I’ll likely do another post to deep dive into this as I have been thinking about it a lot lately. In 2024 my total expenses so far are just a hair over $30K. That number blows people’s minds because so many people live a life of debt, chasing happiness by buying stuff and trying to look at a certain status in society. It’s kind of interesting that my expenses are only roughly $30K after 10 months and yet I can spend up to $115K a year. The only few things I can think of that I keep thinking of spending more on are a bigger RV and a newer truck. But I just am not sure I would get more value out of them yet to spend the money on them. I am thinking of adding some weekly coffee shop runs to my lifestyle. Some place I can take Nora and we just sit outside and drink a cup of coffee and have some sweet treat. But this also has the potential of harming my fitness goals with the extra sugar and calories. But I figure I will try it out and adjust going forward.
My Passive Income
It’s cool that I make $74,232 annually without even touching my investments. That is the equivalent of $2,449,656 million invested at a 3% SWR. If you add my investment portfolio, I could have around $115,000 a year in passive income with around a 5%-6% SWR.
Could I hustle more to make it to $150,000 in passive income a year? I could and it does sound cooler than $115,000. But I don’t see a reason to do so yet. I don’t spend anywhere near $115K a year as is. Also, I only see my investment portfolio going up as time goes on, which will create more passive income.
It does feel incredible knowing that I can spend up to $115,000 a year and never have to work at a job to do so. It’s all passive income that I get no matter what I do that year or where I live.

Barista and Coast FIRE group.
I have created a FIRE group for Barista and Coast FIRE people. I saw there was a gap in the community and these paths seem like the more enjoyable path. So I said, “I have to take on this passion project.”
