December is coming to a close so it’s that time of the month for my monthly net worth update!
I want to explain why I do a monthly net worth update.
- Keep me accountable
- Track my journey
- Prove that anyone can become a millionaire
- Prove that FIRE works
December has been my first month of full-time RV living! Wow, this month flew by. Besides moving into the RV I did a little outdoor exploring but honestly, most of my time has been settling into the RV.
Income
This month I made $9,007. Ok here is the deal it was dividend payout time for my investment accounts. Not only that I sold some stuff and took a few items back. December was a good month for income.
Expenses
Expenses total right at $1,618. Now that is what I call winning! As you can see I have reduced my spending by a shit ton. This is due to me not needing to cash flow big items and no more luxury apartment.
Savings
This month I saved $3,387 which is right around a 50% savings rate. For simplicity reasons I am only calculating this using my paychecks and things I sold. All dividends are reinvested so I’m not including those as I see no reason for this month’s report. All savings this month just got put into my savings account as cash for now.
- $3,387 Savings
Net Worth: $218,599
This is where it gets a little sticky now. My net worth posted on Personal Capital in the sleek graph below is wrong. Still, have some of that crypto that would not link to Personal Capital.
That is a +$9,755 gain since last month’s net worth update for November was $208,844.
Final Thoughts
I now live in my RV full-time. My savings rate has increased which means more wealth building. I really want to challenge the ideology of HCOL areas. I live in San Diego which is labeled an HCOL area. Yet I feel it’s not expensive here at all. It’s really just people who have a high cost of living lifestyle in these areas. The culture here is more luxurious and spend money on things and stuff like it’s going out of style. The only item I can think of that has been expensive was my luxury apartment at about $2K a month.
My favorite free tool I use to manage my net worth is Personal Capital.
