I am very excited about this new post and to see where it will take me on my journey. First I want to go over a few key points on why I want to do this monthly cost review.
- I have not found any Full-Time RV living cost break downs
- Keep me accountable
- Track my true RV costs
- Show others it might be an option to not only accelerate their FIRE journey but build a more intentional lifestyle.

So here are my true costs.
RV Payment $209
Truck Payment $89
RV Insurance Payment $0
No insurance costs because I paid for the next 12 months in December’s update.
Truck Insurance $0
No insurance costs because I paid for the next 6 months in December’s update.
Campground Site $365
This is me staying in two different sites over the month of February. This is so low due to us paying some of it in Jan and we stayed mainly off-grid this month.
Propane $0
Gas $62
Gas well we rarely use the generator anymore. That is right we are basically up and running with solar now. Yet we still use gas in the good old truck.
Misc $47
Well, things can tend to come up when you live full-time in an RV. This was just basic things for maintenance. I am doing a lot of preventative stuff now.
Total Costs – $772
Well, another month down and the spending is down as well. Look at that the costs are starting to come down already. I knew they would once we got the big-ticket items out of the way we wanted yet did not need.
I’m trying to stay as transparent as possible with these costs. I still don’t think this lifestyle is for everyone. But for us at this time it has worked out. It has already saved me money and I foresee it continuing to do so. Even if I sell the truck and RV for a 50% loss at what I paid I will still be way ahead of staying in my luxury apartment. My expenses are $772 this month!! Compare that to about the $2K I was spending at the luxury apartment to not include the money I save in gas. I call that fucking winning big time in my book. This cost is also including my truck and RV payment. That is almost $300 a month. So if I pay that off my monthly expenses will see an even bigger decline.
This lifestyle also gives me an incredible opportunity most people don’t get. I can live in multiple locations in my city. Literally, in less than an hour we can pack everything up and we are off to the next place. I find it really interesting living in multiple areas here in San Diego. I love how much freedom and flexibility our RV setup gives us.

In case you missed it here is last month’s break down. Keep on the journey and path!
