August is now coming to a close so it’s that time of the month for my monthly net worth update! It has literally been almost a year since I have updated my net worth post! This has been due to my work schedule just has not allowed me to punch out content like I would like.
This update will be a little different this time. Mainly because I did not budget at all this month. Also because well my net worth has had a big increase in the last 11 months. Let’s get right on into it.
Had some fun adventures this month on a few hikes and my bicycle. It’s insane to me how much there is to do for free or super cheap.
Income
This month I made $4,416 after my contributions to my 401K.
Expenses
Expenses total right at $3,076. To be honest I did not budget at all this month and spent like a high-end consumer! I plan to dial this down over the next few months. I have no goal yet of how low I want to try to get it. Actually, $3,000 a month to live in San Diego is not bad at all especially seeing I live in a luxury apartment.
Savings
This month I saved $2,970 which is right around a 45% savings rate. My savings rate has dropped since moving to SD. So far I am ok with it and still am happy hitting a 40%+ savings rate while living in such a nice place.
- $1,970 Traditional 401K
- $1,000 Money Market Account
Net Worth: $184,928
This is where it gets a little sticky now. My net worth posted on Personal Capital in the sleek graph below is wrong. Still, have some of that crypto that would not link to Personal Capital.
That is a +$56,893 gain since last year net worth update for September was $128,035
Final Thoughts
Man what a wild ride it has been over the last 11 months on my journey to FIRE. At least my crypto went up a little in the last 11 months! I have had a huge increase in my net worth over the last 11 months. I also had a huge increase in my income but expenses have also gone up. My savings rate has dropped yet that is ok. You see even though my savings rate is less I am actually saving more money just a lower percentage. I probably won’t FIRE in San Diego so this will accelerate my FIRE goals. On top of that, I just got a promotion that comes with about $600 a month pay increase. Of that, I only will see about $400 thanks to good old Uncle Sam’s taxes, SS, and Medicare. The silver lining there is that is still $400 more a month to invest and $4,800 a year.
Hopefully, everyone gets inspired by my update!
